THOMAS MCCLEARY'S Commodores Experience

Thomas McClary, simply put, is an icon. As the founder, lead guitarist, and one of the leading songwriters of The Commodores, Thomas McClary has easily influenced the music industry—bringing us classics such as “Brick House”, “Three Times a Lady, and “Easy”. Wild Cherry’s “Play that Funky Music White Boy” was an unapologetic imitation of McClary’s “Slippery When Wet”, showing that Thomas McClary’s musical genius is legendary. He also wrote and produced songs for Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Melissa Manchester, and Michael Hennyson. His impact on music has been nothing short of groundbreaking, setting the high precedent for tomorrow’s artist and musicians.

Born in 1949, Thomas McClary became one of the first African-American students to integrate the Florida school system prior to the enforcement of Brown v. Board of Education. He began playing music at a very early age, starting with the Ukulele and then adding the acoustic guitar and later the electric guitar to his repertoire. McClary still carries the same charismatic and explosive energy as ever before. His show crosses genre and generational boundaries, and invites the audience to not only relive past experiences, but create new ones too.

McClary has always been dedicated to helping the next generation of entertainers get their start. A prominent example being Byron Chambers (Mr. Talkbox) who appeared on Bruno Mars’s hit single “24k” and tours with T-Pain. The Commodores Experience featuring Thomas McClary isn’t merely a trip down memory lane—with songs like “All Night Long” and “Lady”—but looks forward to the future by offering original content from young, upcoming acts. The band is made up of an eclectic group of the best talent in the United States.
